About Me

Courtney Rush, LMFT

I am an authentic, relaxed, warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental person. I identify as a mother, Bay area local, artist and writer, expressive arts facilitator, flora and fauna lover, meditator, gardener, Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), and spiritual Being. All of these practices and disciplines infuse my work.

I attended Scripps College (B.A., 2002) and the California Institute of Integral Studies’ (M.A., 2007) Counseling Psychology program with an emphasis in Expressive Arts Therapy. I am a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT, 2012).

I have been supporting children and youth, and their families, in school and private practice settings since 2006. For over a decade, I was a school-based therapist for public school districts. I provided individual and group therapy to students and additional support to their families. It has been a privilege to witness children and families blossom in unimaginable ways.

Having worked so closely with schools’ resource and IEP teams, including school psychologists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, Special Education aids, and classroom teachers, I have expertise working with children with wide-ranging needs. I am experienced in collaborative behavior problem-solving, social-emotional skill building, and helping parents find useful resources and tools. My client-centered therapeutic approach for children and youth utilizes the use of play therapy and the expressive arts; including the visual arts, Sandplay, drama, music, and movement.
